The tour “La Musica Paradiso” by All Classical Portland has come to an end. This trip was so great, that there are already discussions about a future trip!

The group accompanying All Classical Portland Program Director and On-Air Host Suzanne Nance saw three operas in Verona, and finished up the trip at Lago di Como as the conclusion of the twelve-day exploration of Italian culture.

Suzanne has created a fifth, and final audio postcard to share with the listeners back home.

In that audio postcard she mentions the three operas that the group saw at the historic 1st century Arena di Verona. On Friday night there was the classic La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi. On Saturday they saw Franco Zeffirelli’s newly updated and exciting version of Georges Bizet’s Carmen, and on Sunday, last but certainly not least was the spectacle of Verdi’s Aida, with hundreds of actors on the stage at the same time, torches, horses, amazing dancing, and of course Verdi’s glorious score performed in an outdoor arena! While in Verona, the group also saw the exhibit about Maria Callas.

For more details about the fabulous tour in Italy this summer, you can listen to Suzanne’s final report, along with the rest of the audio postcards from the trip:
