Spoleto: Audio Postcard from Suzanne – All Classical Portland – musical tour in Italy
The tour “La Musica Paradiso” by All Classical Portland continues…
The group accompanying All Classical Portland Program Director and On-Air Host Suzanne Nance went to Spoleto on the occasion of the music festival there as part of the itinerary of the twelve-day exploration of Italian culture.
Suzanne has created a second audio postcard to share with the listeners back home.
In that audio postcard she features the music festival in the ancient town of Spoleto, in the province of Perugia. She mentions that the internationally recognized Festival Dei Due Mondi in Spoleto was originally started by the Italian-American composer and librettist Gian Carlo Menotti. While in Spoleto, the group saw a production of Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” that was originally staged in the 1930’s and performed in a 1st century arena!
Next up: more wonderful concerts from around Italy and opera in Verona at the Arena di Verona on the weekend…
