The art of the Neapolitan pizza-maker will be Italy’s contender to be part of the UNESCO’s World Heritage List, the national commission for UNESCO through a proposal by the agriculture ministry and with the backing of the foreign, university, environment and economy ministries.

Pizza will try to "represent Italy all over the world". Agriculture Minister Maurizio Martina said "we are continuing to valorise ‘made in Italy’ after the great success of Expo".

The art of the Neapolitan Pizzaioli is aiming to make the UN cultural organization’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Former agriculture minister Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, promoter of the #Pizza Unesco campaign, voiced "great satisfaction" and vowed to bring "the first million signatures" from Italy and the rest of the world to Paris March 14.
