Every summer the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI) features a number of great opportunities to get out and experience the cultural richness of Italy first-hand. FAI helps foster the preservation of many of Italy’s cultural gems and this summer is no exception.
The Antica Barberia Giacalone barber shop in Genoa has recently been restored and is open from July 9th to 18th.
Located in a typical alley in Genoa, the old barber shop is a little treasure. Opened in 1882 by Mr. Giacalone and renovated in Art Deco style in 1922 by his son Italo, today this historic establishment of Genoa has come back to life and shine thanks to the collaboration between the FAI and Proraso working together for Italian art and culture.
From Tuesday to Saturday, the 9thto 18th of July, these traditions will flourish again in this historic barber shop which is among the oldest of Genoa and still frequented by many famous people in Genoa. The spectacular display of colors and light reflections within the interior of this little shop is jaw-dropping.
